Release Alert (5/29/10): Air Jordan 1 Phat Low ‘Derek Jeter’ PE

AJ1 Phat Low 'Derek Jeter'

If Derek Jeter had played any sport other than baseball, I actually believe that he would have been just as successful as he has been with the New York Yankees.  It’s not so much about his athleticism or talent, both of which he has plenty of, but more so his calm and poised demeanor as a team leader.

As the current captain of the most notorious franchise in baseball history, along the way, Jeter has collected four World Series championships, 4 AL Gold Gloves, a World Series MVP and ten AL All-Star team selections (one MVP).  Starring underneath the bright and sometimes burning lights of the Big Apple has never phased Derek Jeter – he has only flourished under the immense pressure.

Even Alex Rodriguez knew his place on the team upon signing with the Yankees by quietly making the switch to third base, given the fact that there was no way he was going to take Jeter’s spot at shortstop.  Through it all, Derek has been riding out his historic and revered career with Jordan Brand, a relationship that has been kind to him.

The Captain.

As a small, but thoughtful tribute to the superstar shortstop’s most recent World championship, Jordan Brand will be releasing the Air Jordan 1 Phat Low ‘Derek Jeter’ PE.  I honestly think these kicks are just simply, real sick.  With a pristine off-white canvas upper, this PE also features Yankee blue stitching accents, 27 hash marks on the lateral side of the toebox that represents the number of titles owned by the Yankees and golden laces that slither through a “2” tab near the top of the tongue.  What I find delectably intriguing about these shoes is the fact that the Jumpman logo, Nike’s “AIR” logo and the Swoosh logo all make an appearance.  Something about the way that the off-white, gold and navy blue blend on these kicks makes them dangerously inviting.

I’d say the AJ1 Phat Low ‘Derek Jeter’ PE is releasing just in time for summer. They will be releasing this Saturday, May 29th at your local House of Hoops so make sure you stay in tune with them for updates!  I would definitely not mind rocking these with Jeter’s jersey and a pair of cargo shorts as we officially kick off summer with Memorial Day weekend.
