Championship Footwear: Nike Zoom Kobe V Blowout Special Part II

Nike Zoom Kobe V 'Del Sol'

My favorite pair of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV was the ‘Del Sol’ edition and as you can imagine, I was anxiously awaiting the release of this colorway for the ZKB V. In both editions of the IV and V, Kobe and his teammates seem to have taken a particular liking to this colorway as well as many fans of the Mamba’s kicks.

Even though the design doesn’t exactly match the Lakers road uniform as well as some other colorways, I find it to be the most practical scheme for general wear on the court.

Black essentially dominates most of the upper and the shoe as a whole, but white and del sol yellow tastefully inhabit other areas. White dresses the heel cap, tongue tip, the Swoosh, midsole and laces, both of which have speckles of black generously applied throughout. The del sol yellow accents are very minimal, making a cameo on only the Swoosh border, Sheath logo, signature and a half of the otherwise black outsole. The design is rather simple, but the overall silhouette is pretty easy on the eyes and again, looks great on the court.

Big-time Gamer.

This ‘Del Sol’ colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe V is undoubtedly of special significance to Derek Fisher as he was wearing this pair during Game 3 of this year’s NBA Finals in which he took over in the fourth quarter on Boston’s home court and locked up the crucial victory for the Lakers, giving his team a 2-1 series lead.

My personal affinity for this edition goes without saying and I even still play a lot in the Kobe IV version as well.
