For the first time in his career this past season, Kobe had to sit out the NBA All-Star game due to the multiple injuries that were hampering his game on the court. Did that stop Nike from releasing the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘All-Star’ colorway? Of course not.
If Kobe had graced the hardwood on All-Star Sunday, perhaps his feet would have blended in with the court under the godly lights of Cowboys Stadium. That’s because if you look closely at the red upper, you can see that the external skin layers on the midfoot and toe box have the design pattern of the hardwood floor that ballers world wide do their damage on. The midsole, Swoosh, heel end, the inner lining, Sheath logo and the laces all wear black with tasteful simplicity as well. As with a handful of the other Nike Zoom Kobe V colorways, this edition has a translucent rubber outsole, which again, seems to be popular with fans.
While it was unfortunate that Kobe had to miss the All-Star game, the man already has three MVP awards from the game (2002, 2007, 2009) and a Slam Dunk Contest championship in his vast trophy case. Given the fact that his finger was still freshly broken, we’ll give the Mamba a pass on his ASG absence in 2010 – just this one time.
