adidas adiZero Rose: Derrick Rose’s First Signature Toy

adidas adiZero Rose Black/University Red

Not that there was really ever any secret to it, but Derrick Rose’s game on the court is of the best that the NBA has to offer from the guard position. Speed, quickness, agility, handles, flash, flair – you name it, he’s got it.

Rose dazzled fans with a 36-point masterpiece in his first ever postseason game at Boston Garden a couple of years ago and has not ceased expanding his game, even helping Team USA win the gold medal last month at the FIBA World Championships in Turkey.

Now that he’s established himself as one of the most dangerous point guards in the game, it’s only fair that adidas finally awards him with his own signature line of kicks.

Enter the adidas adiZero Rose.

As his first ever signature pair of high performance basketball sneakers, the adiZero Rose is looking to make as heavy of an imprint in the sneaker world as Derrick has in the NBA.  At a mere 12.8 ounces, these shoes come stacked with the very best of adidas’ technological innovations.  For starters, you’ve got Pure Motion pods in the forefoot that provide excellent stability and enhanced agility by allowing your feet to move with more of their natural motion.  A Geofit and Sprintframe build offer the wearer ultimate flexibility while maintaining a premium locked fit for your heel to make cutting and stopping on a dime as easy as buttering bread.

Welcome to my poster.

The upper is composed of synthetic leather and newly developed Sprintskin mesh, which helps the shoe remain light, comfortably breathable and stable in the midfoot.  If you notice as well, you won’t find adidas’ signature three-stripe logo anywhere on the medial or lateral panels.  Rather, you have to look at the rear where the stripes begin at the mid-heel and end near the midfoot region of the outsole, a new design element being debuted through the adiZero Rose. The always reliable adiPRENE + technology offers maximum cushioning in the forefoot area while the TORSION rig makes sure your foot is absolutely stable during high intensity movements on the court.  To restate, these kicks are just loaded with goodies.

This may be a year of many firsts for Derrick Rose.  To start, he’s already won his first gold medal with Team USA and he’s going to debut his first pair of signature shoes.  He’s already got an All-Star berth in the bag so we’ll have to wait to see what other firsts the explosive Rose will delight us fans with once the new NBA season tips off next week.

Foot Locker and Eastbay will be dropping the Black/University Red colorway this Friday, October 22, 2010 so be sure to cop a pair!  The White/Black-Red edition will be released in November and we will definitely keep you posted.
