The Lakers and Celtics exited this year’s NBA Playoffs without even coming close to reaching the NBA Finals. They were handily ousted by the Mavericks and Heat, respectively. A lot of basketball heads are now theorizing that the championship window for those two teams may be all but shut. One of the main reasons behind this idea comes in the form of back-to-back scoring champion, Kevin Durant.
As if cementing his place in NBA history as the youngest scoring champ ever last season wasn’t enough, he did himself a double whammy this year by repeating the feat with 27.7 points per game (30.1 in 2009-2010). In honor of KD’s exploits, Nike has crafted the Nike Zoom KD III ‘Scoring Title’ Away. These kicks are incredibly easy on the eyes with a smooth molded matte black upper that comes dressed with a special design pattern along the forefoot, which even contains a “Barry Farms” reference. That would be the name of a court where Durant went for better than 60 in a summer league game. Dark blue and yellow accents outfit the rest of the shoes including the sultry translucent outsole.
If the Oklahoma City Thunder were ever going to make an early run at an NBA championship, this season is as good of a chance as any because the last three champions are sitting at home watching on TV. The title is now up for grabs and if you’ve watched Kevin Durant do his thing on the court, you know he’s more than capable of leading his team to the NBA’s ultimate summit.
