For the devoted sneakerhead, kicks carry far more significance and meaning than just simple things that protect our feet from the elements. They are an expression of style, preference and ultimately, personality. However, if you take it one step further, there’s no denying that sneakers are one of the purest forms of art and design in the modern world.
If you love sneakers, especially the Nike Air Max 1 and appreciate sick artwork, prepare yourself for the gems that longtime artist and designer Matt Stevens has in store for sneakerheads worldwide. As an avid sneakerhead himself, Matt has set out on a mission to compile a top-shelf art book of 100 alluring illustrations of his favorite shoe of all-time, the Nike Air Max 1 – and he could use a hand! The project is currently in the funding stage on KickStarter.com and needs our support to reach the production stage. Of course, the more you pledge towards the project, the more you’ll get out of it! And believe me, you’ll want to check out the complete details on Matt’s MAX100 KickStarter page.
I personally can’t get enough of this project because I love kicks and definitely have respect for artistic creativity. To give us all a more in-depth look at his life, career and the MAX100 project, Matt was gracious enough to do an exclusive interview for Kicksologists! Let’s get to it!
