The WNBA has seen its share of ups and downs since its inception in 1997. Many franchises have come and gone out of the picture. However, the Los Angeles Sparks have been fortunate in experiencing two WNBA championships and having two marquee players as keystones to build quality teams around. Lisa Leslie (three-time WNBA MVP, four-time Olympic gold medalist), arguably the greatest, if not the greatest center in women’s basketball history, was a superstar not only in the WNBA, but beyond the reaches of the league as well. Just like her, Candace Parker, a sensational superstar who won the AP Player of the Year Award (University of Tennessee) and the WNBA Most Valuable Player Award and Rookie of the Year Award all in 2008, is just as great of a force to be reckoned with.
To pay tribute to the Los Angeles Sparks and their 15th anniversary in the City of Angels, Nike is commemorating their new WNBA season with a special colorway of the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011. The upper’s base color is teal while yellow and purple accents play along throughout the mesh panels, midsole, Swoosh, laces and tongue.
