Although you could argue that the Panthers still lost at Arizona, you have to realize that they did so at the hands of a Patrick Peterson punt return. It seems that special teams have suffered the brunt of consequences from the NFL lockout, with a record eight kickoff/punt returns for touchdowns in Week 1.

For all the heat that Cam has taken with the controversy involving his father and such, you’ve got to respect the fact that you were never really able to tell that he was dealing with so many distractions off the field when it came time to buckle his chin strap and lead his team in the name of War Eagle.

Newton doesn’t have to wait to be a superstar because he already is one. What he has to do going forward is live up to the hype and expectations that come with being the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, especially for a franchise that has been starving for another trip to the Super Bowl. He will take Under Armour to the next level in the football market, no question, as hard as that may be to conceive given their credentials.
