Nike LeBron 9 Goes Public During Lockout

The Nike LeBron 9 has officially been unveiled by Nike amid the circulation of various colorways that have been flashing throughout the web as of late.  LeBron James and his Miami Heat certainly have a bad taste in their mouths right now, after being ousted in the NBA Finals in six by Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks.  The worst part is, they may not even have a chance to eradicate that feeling of losing for another year or more.

The timing of this release is a little bit curious, not just because of the lockout, but in general, James’ kicks have always been revealed way ahead of the NBA season while Nike keeps an airtight seal on Kobe’s shoes.  Either way, Bron’s ninth signature shoe sets a precedent for Nike basketball that not even the Mamba can lay claim to.  For the first time ever, these kicks combine two of Nike’s most valuable technologies, Flywire and Hyperfuse.

“From the very beginning of the design process for the LeBron 9 we wanted to break the mold with a shoe that maximized the strengths of a triple threat player like LeBron.  LeBron brings a rare combination of speed, agility and force to the game and my goal is to outfit him in a shoe that lets him do what he does best while maximizing our superior innovations,” said Jason Petrie, lead designer for the Nike LeBron 9.

It seems that this signature model has been given tons of attention not only in functionality, but also style.  Petrie has given the shoes superior ventilation, durability and support with the aforementioned Flywire and Hyperfuse, but also, what is now Bron’s trademark Air Max 180 feature in the heel.  We can see a carbon fiber weave element on the side panel that really gives these shoes visual pop.  Lastly, the Nike LeBron 9 comes outfitted with Nike Pro Combat padding around the ankle for maximum protection.

Look for the Nike LeBron 9 to release stateside on October 15 with a limited edition ‘Cannon’ colorway and again on October 25th in the Black/Red-White colorway seen here.  The sneakers will also drop early in China on October 1st and will additionally be launched on NIKEiD.com on October 25th, marking the King’s first ever association with the customization tool, with a free preview beginning on the 11th. How will you be coppin these?
