Exclusive Oregon Pit Crew Air Jordan IIIs

These Oregon Duck branded Air Jordan IIIs are slated to arrive on the webbed toes of the Oregon Ducks Pit Crew, a student basketball cheering section of 1,500 fuzzy (drunken) yellow ducklings. On Friday October 14th the new Matthew Knight basketball arena in Eugene will host the year’s Midnight Madness event where 10 pairs will be given away. Pit Crew members can possibly earn a pair later in the year, specifically by adhering to a group code of conduct and by attending a certain number of games.

Tinker Hatfield, a graduate of the University of Oregon, designed the Air Jordan III and the majority of Air Jordans MJ sported on the court. He had this to say regarding the limited release: “When you give something to someone and you say they’re special, they’re not so special if you say you’re going to make 3,000 more and put them up for sale.” (NiceKicks.com) Mr. Hatfield is currently the VP of Innovation Design at Nike. This year marks 23 years since the AJIIIs were first made available in stores.

A significant departure from the typical AJ is the replacement of the Jumpman logo with the Oregon O on the tongue of the shoe, and duck feet on the rear.  What do you think about collegiate PE’s breaking into Air Jordan Branding?
