The Ken Griffey Jr. sneaker renaissance (side note: so proud I spelled that word correctly on the first try) is in full effect with a fresh promotional campaign at Footlocker and re-releases of his signature shoes. The Nike Total Griffey Max ’99 has dropped in a number of colorways, and he’s even shown up on LeBron Jame’s signature sneaker line, which paid tribute to The Kid with the LeBron 9 “Swingman”.
Pictured here we have the latest Griffey release, the Nike Air Griffey Fury Fuse “Dark Grey/University Red”. Taking a darker and less bombastic approach than the “Freshwater” colorway, it features a Dark Grey upper with black elements and University Red highlights on the branding and Air Max 360 sole. This one is definitely toned to mirror Junior’s days with the Reds (Sorry Seattle fans, I want a Mariners colorway this badass too).
