Complete History of the Nike KD VI

[new_royalslider id=”283″]

Kevin Durant and Nike designer Leo Chang needed a shoe that would match KD’s play style. They need something low and light to relieve pressure off KD’s foot. To the sneaker community, it would seem like even with the crazy colorways they have released there would only be a handful that would not really see much court time as most see the KD 6 as more of a performance shoe.

Complete History of the KD VI

The KD 6s takes inspiration from his hometown, Washington, D.C, and the meticulous craftsmanship of watches.

As designer Leo Chang began the process of designing the KD VI 18 months ago, he found inspiration in the precision craftsmanship of a wristwatch. Like a premium watch, which is meticulously crafted, the KD VI features fine-tuned details that include:

• Ultra-thin two layer upper with Flywire for lockdown support
• An optical illusion logo on the tongue revealing “35” and “6” in negative space
• Radial brushed texture marks on the midsole, KD logo and Nike Swoosh
• A multi-layered hexagon traction pattern

Similar to Durant’s controlled fluidity on the court, a watch operates with precise movements. Small nuances in Durant’s style of play and the KD VI design mirror the micro details of a wristwatch. Classic minimalism suggests less is sometimes more” –Nike
With the technology put into this sneaker it’s no wonder KD achieved the NBA’s league MVP. With the comfort level that this shoe outputs ballers will keep playing in them for a very long time.
