A new colorway of the original shrouded XX8 has a scheduled release date of February 16th. Dubbed the “Bamboo” colorway, this release will be the first XX8 colorway of 2014, and the first new XX8 colorway since the Red and Cement Elephant Print XX8 of the fall of 2013.

Kicksologists contributers and fans alike have seen previous samples that look similar to these which were also known as the “hardwood” XX8s. An updated design includes a “bamboo” style heel counter, continuing the trend of external heel counters commonly seen in new model sneakers in carbon fiber and other materials. The new design looks to have a more breathable shroud with extra ventilation. Ventilation and breathability was one of very few hot-points of criticism of the XX8 design. Will this new vented shroud make this shoe one of the best designs of the decade? This upcoming release will help answer our question.
