The Kobe 8 Year of the Horse edition is currently still available from Nike in many sizes. Nike released the Kobe 8 YOTH this year without much promotion. As a result, this high performance basketball shoe is still available directly from Nike. The Kobe 8 is the most successful Kobe signature shoe to date with now famous colorways that have created and coined new colorway names in the sneaker industry such as Purple Gradient, Pit Viper, Sulfurs, Sparks, and the recent Shedding Skin models.

The Kobe 8 YOTH upper consists of shades of red mimicking a “horse hair” pattern with a red speckled mid-sole and blue bottom. This colorway could easily match a Superman theme. It has the Lunarlon insole, external heel counter, and the low profile cut which Kobe signatures are now known for. The release of the Kobe 9 comes in a high-top version, ending the streak of low cut Kobe shoes. The Kobe 8, in general, has not lasted long on shelves. All the colorways of previous Kobe 8’s are difficult to find from retail or reseller channels which is why it is a bit surprising that the Kobe 8 YOTH is still around. Most of it can very likely be attributed to the $160 price tag. It is about a $20 increase from other Kobe 8 releases.
Will the Kobe 8 Year of the Horse sell out as Chinese New Year nears or will Kobe fans let this one be the one that got away?
Let us know what you think.
You can find the Kobe 8 YOTH on Nike.com in most sizes.
