2014 NBA Sneakers on Court: Nick Young Sneaker Review

Even though injuries have derailed the Lakers this season, one Laker didn’t let that affect his kicks on court. Sporting a wide variety of sneakers this season, Nick Young is our featured player from the Lakers. We could honestly put together a book on what he’s worn this season but we’ve done our best to pick the top 5 while factoring his performance. He boasts a large variety of Kobe 8 and 9 iDs, so we tried not to factor those in. We did not want to completely disregard those kicks, so they’ve been included in our honorable mentions, in the slideshow below.

#1 April 14, 2014 “41 Points v. Jazz”
We couldn’t avoid highlighting this game as Nick poured in 41 points. A loss would have been better for the lottery, but as professionals you’re suppose to give 110% every time you step onto the court. Nick Young certainly did as he was two points shy from his career high. Shooting 14-23, he also led the team with +/- of +22.

#2 April 1, 2014 “Portland Trail Blazers”
The setting is a Tuesday evening, roughly about 7:30 in downtown Los Angeles in an arena named Staples Center. The two teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers. One team was headed for the postseason and the other for the draft lottery. Even though Portland prevailed, Swaggy P made his first 8 shots and ended the night with 40 points while shooting 15 for 26.

Nick Young Air Jordan Silver Anniversary 3

#3 April 8, 2014 “Houston Rockets”
In this high scoring affair, Nick Young sank 6 three pointers at a 60% clip. Even though the Lakers were no match for the Rockets, Young had the green light to shoot as they were down most of the game. Jodie Meek also scored 30 but Young was more efficient shooting the ball. The night belonged to Steve Nash as he passed Mark Jackson for 3rd on the all time assists list.

Nick Young Nike Supreme Foamposite

#4 April 16, 2014 “Los Angeles Clippers”
Playing against his former team and now same tenant rivals, Nick Young brought out his Sunday best. He had shown them off on Instagram the previous week and had decided to put them to use. The Nike Foamposite “Supremes” created havoc at the Supreme boutiques. Crowds had shut the release down in NYC but for him, it probably took a few connects. He shot an abysmal 5-15 to finish 18 points, two steals, and two assists in a blowout.

#5 April 13,2014 “Memphis Grizzlies”
The highlight of then night was his 360 degree baseline layup around Pau Gasol’s brother: Marc. If you can recall, Young had attempted one once again the Raptors which resulted in failing miserably. The Grizzlies would eventually go on to win the game but the Lakers kept the game competitive. He shot 50% behind the three point arc, making 4 of them. Finishing 3rd in scoring for the Lakers, he finished with 14 points, a steal, and a block.
