Back in February, we were able to join in on Kobe Bryant’s event at the Nike Vault in downtown Los Angeles. During the event, we were pleased to hear a Michael Jackson themed Kobe 9 were in the works.
Today, official photos have surfaced of two new colorways; Beethoven which features the colors: grey, black, and white, and the Michael Jackson colorway. The “Michael Jackson” Kobe 9 Elite Low will officially be known as the “Hyper Grape”. In April, we saw the Kobe 9 HTM unexpectedly release but they were a Milan release only. No shocker, they were immediately sold out.
When Michael Jackson comes to mind, two details stand out about the man. He made the moonwalk iconic and wore the red jacket in Thriller. It was assumed by many that the Kobe 9s would release in a red colorway. As you know all red Nikes always bring the attention. The translucent sole on the “Michael Jackson” has a special graphic which resembles the moon, and you all know who made the moonwalk famous. This is a bit like the “Philippines” colorway in which the Tsinelas were shown on the bottom.
The Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low “Michael Jackson” will be released on July 12, 2014 and will be available at Nike.com and select retailers. Make sure you stay tuned with Kicksologists for all the breaking news and information regarding the Kobe 9.
