At Terminal 23 in New York City, the team at Jordan Brand put together an amazing show to reveal Carmelo Anthony’s 11th signature shoe – the Melo 11.
It’s amazing that 11 years has passed already with Carmelo Anthony being the face of Jordan Brand. With the release of the Melo M11, it looks like Jordan Brand hasn’t missed a step in trying to put the very best of it’s design and technology resources behind Melo to give him the performance needed to excel on the court.
“When it was time to talk to the designers about this year’s model, I told them it was important for me to have a shoe that could keep my game fresh throughout the entire four quarters,” said Carmelo Anthony. “Whether taking flight or landing, FlightPlate has great cushion, responsiveness and bounce.”
TECHNOLOGY
Being the longest standing player for Jordan Brand, you can be sure that the M11 is going to have the latest technology included and with FlightPlate, the proofs in the pudding. The design is suppose to harness and return energy from every bend of the plate, which is located right over the forefoot of the Nike Zoom unit.
As for materials, the M11 uses perforated synthetic leather to decrease weight, enhance support and improve on breathability, which we know has been a big issue for some of Melo’s past signature shoes. An interesting integration of the heel counter with the midsole should bring some support to the ankle area along with reinforcing the M motif prevalent in the design.
LOOKS
Melo requested that the color palette of the M11 be a little bit cleaner this year to help give the accents of color a way to tell a more dynamic story. Stories like his journey from the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn to the concrete jungles of NYC to his family at Jordan and also the lovely life he lives.
“It was essential that we incorporate how important New York City is to me,” Anthony said. “It’s where my basketball journey started, and there’s no other city where I’d rather play the game.”
