Under Armour Curry One ‘Underdog’ | Releases in April

Although an athlete can drop 50 points in a high school basketball game, that doesn’t always equate to being touted by the best colleges. One of today’s biggest stars came from a little known Davidson. There, Curry made some noise and carried his squad to the NCAA Tournament. His quick shooting and ability to score was finally presented for the world to see. Unfortunately, his Cinderella run ended in the Elite 8 against the top-seeded and eventual victors, the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Curry name is a name known around the NBA because of his father Dell whom is best known for his days playing for the Charlotte Hornets. Nowadays, the Curry name is proudly carried by Stephen. His first signature Under Armour shoes the Curry One receives an “Underdog” colorway. Not wild like the Candy Reign, the Underdogs sport a grey upper with accents of a lighter grey and red much like his days at Davidson.

According to Alex Torres of Warriors World, Steph has always been an Underdog:

Before the start of the season many wouldn’t have believed that Curry would have been an MVP candidate, but the Splash Brother is used to it. For most of his life Curry has been an underdog, but he has always managed to prove the doubters wrong.

Curry is used to it, only a handful of division one offered him a scholarship and his father’s alma mater Virginia Tech only offered to come in as a walk-on. He chose to go to Davidson and the rest is history.

As a draft prospect, Curry was more of a household name, but the NBA scouts believed he was too small and didn’t have a specific position. I wonder what those same skeptics have to say now?

Steph Curry is an inspiration and Under Armour is releasing a colorway commemorating Curry’s journey as an underdog. The Curry One “Underdog” will be available for purchase on April 3rd and they will retail for $120.
