Air Jordan 11 Space Jam | Photos of 2016 Retro

Space Jam is such a generational and iconic movie.  I was six years old when the movie dropped in VHS form and watched it countless times.  Watching it now as an adult is a lot more different, but the love for the movie still remains, including my love for the shoes Jordan wore, the Space Jam 11’s.

Originally debuting in 1996, Michael Jordan jumped over the Monstars to save himself from being an attraction on their home planet.  Who knew that 20 years later, the original model would return including the number ’45’ on the heel.  Seen in the photos below, the ’45’ is stitched rather than heat pressed like its predecessors.  Pretty awesome move by Jordan Brand here as this is the first time for the brand.  I remember the ’23’ branding of the CDP 11 package used to rub off fairly quick.

Despite the original design of this 2016 release, ‘Jumpman Jordan’ is seen on the tongue whereas the on the original and 2000 versions, it said ‘Jumpman Jam’.  As for the silhouette of the shoe, the patent leather is cut more of the same as the 2009 version.  Last years 72-10 had a more thicker cut, but the photo isn’t as clear so judging it may be too early.  Also, instead of a Royal Blue Jumpman logo, it is now Concord as it was on the original.  The 2000 and 2009 retro releases used Royal Jumpman logo’s.

The Air Jordan Retro 11 “Space Jam” returns this Holiday season.  No pricing or release date has been reported so stay tuned for more information but we can imagine them releasing with a price tag that is north of $220.
