Debuting his first signature model this weekend, four-time All-Star Paul George and Nike Basketball gives us another colorway of the low-cut sneaker. This second colorway comes dressed in true Indiana Pacer form dubbed, “Ferocity” by Nike Basketball.
Being an avid fisherman in the off-season, the PG 1 is reflects George’s passion for fishing. The outsole traction pattern is inspired by fish scales providing multi-directional support on the hardwood. The medial side of the left shoe has “5-1-15” inscribed to it honoring his daughters first birthday while the right shoe has his birthday, “5-2-90”. On the right heel tab, there is a stripe representing the titanium rod used to repair Paul George’s right-leg injury during the Olympics exhibition in 2014.
As far as performance, the Nike PG 1 will use a Zoom Air unit in the forefoot for a low and responsive ride. Nike Basketball usually uses heel Zoom in their basketball models, so the PG 1 clearly started off in the right direction. A distinctive forefoot strap anchored by Flywire cables assures lockdown and containment for the player. Paul George also wanted the silhouette to be as simple as possible resulting in such a clean simple look.
The PG 1 “Ferocity” will be available March 4, 2017 for a affordable price of $110.00 USD. If you play NBA 2K17, the game has implemented the sneaker in gameplay and can be used for your MyPlayer effective today. You can view the video above. We’ll have a performance review once we get hands on the sneaker on release, so stay tuned.
