This statement may be overrated, but we could possibly see the best year from Jordan Brand with this lineup for 2017.  But before we get into it, let’s travel back in time to 1994, when Michael Jordan played baseball for the Birmingham Barons.

To be exact, the date was March 31, 1944 shortly after Jordan’s first retirement.  He left the game of basketball to pursue baseball as his love for the game was shattered after his father’s passing.  His dad, James R. Jordan Sr., envisioned his son playing in the Major League, but never got a chance to as he dominated basketball instead.  Despite only playing one season for the Barons, a minor league team, he batted an average of .202, which in baseball terms, abysmal.  There was even a parody in the movie Space Jam about this.

A year later, he un-retired and was welcomed back to the NBA and continued where he left off with the Chicago Bulls.  Wearing jersey no. 45, Jordan led the Bulls to their 4th Championship and began their second three-peat in Bulls franchise history of the 1995-1996 NBA season.

Jordan Brand is releasing the oh so popular, Jordan 11 model in low-cut form.  Inspired by the Barons uniform, the upper is decked out in black with a smoked patent leather finish.  A white midsole completes and translucent outsole completes the traditional look.

The Air Jordan Retro 11 Low “Barons” drops May 27, 2017 for $175.00 USD.
