adidas is doing such a great job this year in their basketball department. With the signing of James Harden and expanding on the Damian Lillard series, the guard heavy league are definitely working in the Three Stripes favor.
The fourth signature sneaker has made its way out in the open with this first look of the adidas Dame 4. Seen below, the Dame 4 looks to have a mid-cut and mesh combination. At first, I thought this was not appealing. But with more images, angles, and of course, more colorways, they are starting to grow on me. Bounce cushioning returns with a thicker outsole that has a bit of throwback feel to it. Back in the 90’s, basketball shoes featured a lot of heavy edges and rubber. They also had a lot of leathers and solid materials that resulted in a heavier experience. Now the Dame 4’s share that thick outsole without the leather and instead a mesh breathable upper.
adidas could take advantage of this design by interchanging materials from Primeknit, to mesh, to fuse on the Dame 4. The lacing system is minimal which means a glove-like fit and also offers a traditional pull-tab in the back. Old school for sure.
The adidas Dame 4 is not scheduled to release anytime soon as we do not have any official information. Multiple colorways are shown below so let us know how you feel about these early images of the upcoming Dame 4 from adidas Hoops.
