One of the most highly anticipated releases this year, the Nike Kyrie 3 Mamba Mentality.
Modeled after the original Nike Zoom Kobe 5, this Kyrie 3 takes inspiration from 2010 during Bryant’s fifth championship reign. Not only did Kobe wear these in a couple games that season, but teammates Shannon Brown, Derek Fish, and Lamar Odom did also. The Bruce Lee campaign became an instant classic and forever etched into the state of mind of all Nike Basketball and its fans.
Limited to about 15-36 pairs per Foot Locker House of Hoops locations across the nation, the release was overlooked by many. Given the fact that the basketball market had slowed down this year, it was a different story with these. Many thought they would have the opportunity to snag on the Nike SNKRS appon their smartphones, but that instantly sold out. Plan b was to head to your local mall and pray to hope that a line was not yet formed.
Thankfully, I was able to snag a pair. Clearly this was one of the biggest drops in quite some time now in my opinion. The last release like this might have been the Kobe 8 What The Kobe’s or the Kobe 9 All-Star Editions. That was maybe 4-5 years ago? I don’t even remember. With sneakers being overproduced nowadays, the hype has sure died down. It was great to see a release like this throw it back to how it used to be.
