Following largely positive reviews on his first Nike signature model, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George is looking to have the same success with the upcoming Nike PG2. This model has been rumored about for upwards of a year, and sample images were floating around the internet for some time, however Nike and the All-Star California native have finally revealed what everyone has been waiting for.
The first color way that is set to release is a rather interesting and surprising one. Sony and Nike have joined forces to put an interesting twist on a basketball sneaker. To start, the “Playstation” PG2 is done up in a mostly black and navy upper, a multicolored speckled midsole and a clear outsole. Similar to the PG1, the PG2 is done in a low-top cut, with forefoot zoom, as well as a nontraditional outsole traction pattern. The forefoot strap, one of the more popular aspects of the PG1, is absent from the PG2 so we will have to see how hoopers respond to the changed aspect of lockdown.
Sony added their personal touches very minimally and subtly. There are several green, pink, orange and blue hits throughout the shoe paying homage to the Playstation controller, as well as the same triangle, circle, square, and x pattern hidden in the gloss of the back panel. The biggest Playstation hit is found on the left tongue, shown in a bright blue when the battery-powered light is turned on, and white when off.
The Nike PG2 “Playstation” is set to release February 10, 2018 for $110 in limited quantities. We will keep you posted on the release information as it becomes available.
