Yesterday, the Nike Hyper Grape Kobe 9’s dropped and surprisingly, it was an easy cop. Barely anything nowadays is a raffle in-store and it really makes it difficult for us sneakerheads and hoopers especially, to be able to purchase a shoe for retail on release. Since the Prelude Pack, Kobe enthusiasts had it tough with every hyped up release. Never was much attention was brought to the Kobe line because of the pack. Those who even disliked Kobe Bryant hopped on the Mamba wagon and scooped up to make a buck or two. But hey, at least the hype has passed and we can move on… hopefully.

Now that the NBA Free Agency arrived, the hype on these Michael Jackson inspired sneakers were low key enough giving many the opportunity to buy. Obviously I’m only speaking about my area here in San Diego, CA, but it was pretty obtainable. It sold out within seconds online through Nikestore, but they were also available on NBA.com and Easbay.com as well.
I’ve been writing about this Hyper Grape colorway since the first news hit the net, and I am very pleased with the quality of the shoe overall. The fit on these is very snug so I recommend to go up half a size. I do have one gripe about my particular pair. The heel positioning and collar height is off. Not really a big deal for me, but I figured I mention it here. They make thousands of these so it is expected. However for $200, you expect something more.
Peep the video above on my thoughts on the shoe and what to expect from me in the future. I also posted up some detailed photos below.
