Even though the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest has become more of a circus in recent years with more theatrics than actual mind-blowing dunks, for what it’s worth, Kobe did snatch the title from his competitors in 1997 the old-fashioned way. As a brash young rookie, he displayed his own brand of showmanship by beginning the competition in his warmups only to finish it up in the old-school Lakers uniform, swaggin’ out to everyone watching. On his feet that night? The first shoes the Mamba ever wore as a pro, the adidas EQT Elevation, right before the adidas KB8. Not a bad way to start off what would become a Hall of Fame career right?
